John Warner Koniares , 54, of Boxford passed away suddenly on June 25, 2014 at his home. He was born on August 4, 1959 in Boston and was the son of Marjorie W. Perkins and the late George H. Koniares . John grew up in Lynnfield and summered on Cape Cod. He graduated from Tabor Academy in Marion, MA and the College of Culinary Arts at Johnson and Wales.
John was a proud owner of the Kernwood Restaurant at Lynnfield and more recently Seabrook Carwash in Seabrook, NH. He was a member of the Chaine des Rotisseurs and Les Amis d'Escoffier Society. John was honored to be a Mason and a Shriner and strongly supported the Shriners Hospitals for Children. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and boating. John was a very proud father and spending time with his family was always a priority.
John was the beloved husband for 26 years of Susan (Gould) of Boxford, and devoted father of his daughter Katherine of Washington, D.C. and his son Michael of Boston. John is survived by his mother Marjorie W. Perkins of Osterville, MA, his brother Harry Koniares and his wife Patricia of Boxford, and his sister Beth Koniares of Marblehead. John is also survived by several aunts and cousins.
Visitation for friends and relatives will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Avenue, Wakefield on Monday from 4-8pm. His funeral service will be held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Wakefield on the corner of Main and Bryant Streets on Tuesday at 11am. Internment will be at Boxford Village Cemetery with a reception to follow. Donations can be made in John's memory to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114.
