John P. LaSpina of Wakefield, MA, succumbed peacefully to an illness on Sunday night July 18, 2010 at the age of 83. Beloved son of the late Harry and Elena LaSpina of Everett, faithful husband for 61 years of Theresa (Meuse) LaSpina, loving father of Terri (LaSpina) and John Panarese of W. Peabody, Michael of Littleton, Nanci (LaSpina) and John Ruehrwein of Wakefield, Steven and Betty (Horne) of Wakefield, John of Stoneham, Jo-Ann (LaSpina) and Billy Stevens of Wilmington and Edward and Karen (Healy) of Lynnfield, and devoted brother of Jean (LaSpina) and Don Rabideau. John fondly referred to as Lefty, was a long time resident of Wakefield and will be remembered for his dedication to Wakefield youth as a former Little League coach and past League President. In addition to seven children, John is survived by nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In accordance with his wishes, services will be private. The family requests friends consider a donation in his memory to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty Street, Danvers, MA 01923.
