Jack Layton of Wakefield, age 53 died Monday May 2 at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital. Jack was raised in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School Class of 1976. He later served in the U.S. Army from 1976-1979. He worked for many years in the computer graphics field. He was an avid golfer and outdoorsman.
He is survived by his two sons, Sgt. Andrew J. Layton, U.S.A. of Manhattan, KS and Benjamin R. Layton of Haverhill. His mother Donna E. (Swanson) Hakey of Wakefield and her late husband Joseph G. Hakey. Brother of Craig Layton and his wife Susan of Tewksbury, Neil Layton and his wife Michele of Athol and Joyce Ebrecht of Wakefield. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield on Friday at 11:00. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8pm. Interment will be private.
