John Vincent Moriana, 77 of Wakefield, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Sawtelle Hospice House after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
John was born on June 2, 1939 in Boston and was the son of the late Felix Moriana and Adolorata Fisk.
John was raised by his mother in "The Gulch" on Valley Street in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School class of 1958. John was a lifetime employee of Chomerics Corporation in Woburn where he was a Production Supervisor for many years before retiring. John also worked on the side gardening and landscaping to support his loving family. John was a dedicated sports fan of both professional and youth sports. John and his late wife Doris (Puleo) Moriana would often be seen at their grandchildren's various sporting events. John made friends wherever he went around town and was well liked by all. John was an avid gardener who possessed a notorious "green thumb"' with his pristine lawn and garden. John enjoyed retirement taking care of his grandchildren and relaxing at his home away from home in Kennebunk, ME with Doris.
John was the loving and devoted husband and caregiver to his wife Doris. John was the loving father of Juli Baglio and her husband Michael of Wake Forest, NC, Joanne O'Brien and her husband Bob of Haverhill, MA, and Jennifer Smith and her husband Brian of Wakefield. He was the devoted grandfather to eight grandchildren: David, Michael, Shayna, and Joe Baglio; April and Sean O'Brien; and Brianna and Brian Smith Jr. John was blessed with three great grandchildren: Mia, Ava and Selah Baglio. John is survived by his sister Connie Fitzgerald of Wakefield. John will be deeply missed by many who loved his passion for life.
His Funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 9am followed by a funeral mass in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-8pm. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
