John Martin

John T . Martin , 89, of Stoneham formerly of Cambridge died Saturday, August 29 at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading.

Born in Malden on September 3, 1919 he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Clara (Strong) Martin .

Mr. Martin was raised and educated in Cambridge. He had been a Stoneham resident for the past 20 years. Mr. Martin was a retired firefighter for the City of Cambridge. He was a World War II Army Air Corps Veteran. Mr. Martin was a member of the Cambridge V.F.W.

Mr. Martin was the husband of the late Lucille (Duperey). He is survived by his daughter Carol Mitchell and her husband John of Plymouth and his son John T . Martin Jr. of Medford. Mr. Martin is also survived by 2 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son David E. Martin , his brother Harry Martin and his two sisters; Barbara Montgomery and Dorothy Bellis.

A funeral service will be held in the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St, Stoneham on Thursday at 10am. Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral Home on Wednesday 3-7pm. Interment will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Stoneham.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Sawtelle Family Hospice House 320 Haverhill St, Reading, MA 01867.
