John Ventura

John Ventura , 83, of Wakefield died on Tuesday, May 7 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading.

Born in Wakefield on August 9, 1929 he was the son of the late John and Gaetana (Barletta) Ventura .

John was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1949 and had served in the National Guard for 9 years. He was also a business owner and a real estate investor.

John was a member and two time past president of the Wakefield Lions Club. He also enjoyed doing yard work, hosting parties at his home and spending time with his family.

John was the husband of Jean (Tucci) Ventura . He was the father of John P. Ventura of Naples, FL, and Debra J. Arria and her husband Leo of Wakefield. He was the brother of Ann Lenfest of Wakefield and the late Mary Prousalis, Margaret Melendy, Salvatore Ventura , Joseph Ventura , and Serino Ventura . He was the grandfather of Shaun, Courtney, Christopher, and Lauren and the great grandfather of Kaylee, and Sophia. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Sawtelle Family Hospice House, 320 Haverhill St. Reading, MA 01867.
