Joseph Croce, Sr.

Joseph A . Croce , Sr ., 90, of Wakefield died at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veteran's Hospital in Bedford on Friday, December 7.

Born in East Boston on September 23, 1922, he was the son of the late Thomas and Frances (Sloane) Croce .

Mr. Croce was a graduate of East Boston High School, class of 1940. He had served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II and had later worked as an electrician at the Charlestown Naval Shipyard. Mr. Croce was also the Chief of Security for the Melrose – Wakefield Hospital and had been a member of the N.R.A. and also the Model Airplane Club of Beverly.

Mr. Croce was the husband of Claire Croce . He was the father of Joseph A . Croce , Jr. and his late wife Kathleen of Gloucester, Gail LeBlanc and her husband Chuck of Newton, NH and the late Wayne S. Croce and his late wife Olga. He was the brother of the late Emily DiPaolo, Tilly Hoar, Irene Johnson, Michael, Thomas, Charlie, Billy, Robert P. and Robert M. Croce . He was the grandfather of Tammy, Jim, Danny, Andrea, Jenna, Rachael, Christopher, and Sean. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 9 A .M. followed by a funereal mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. A period of visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 – 8 P.M. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, c/o Grecc Unit, 62C/D, 200 Springs Rd., Bldg.#62, Bedford, MA 01730
