, 87, of Wakefield, loving husband of Dorothy "Dot" (McGrail)
Hagan
for 50 years, entered into the Lord's embrace April 10, 2009 after a prolonged illness of complications of Alzeheimers.
Born in Chelsea on July 3, 1921 he was the son of the late Frank and Margaret (Gaffney)

Mr.
Hagan
grew up in the Beachmont section of Revere, graduating from Revere High School, Class of 1938. In 1942 he enlisted in the US Coast Guard and was assigned to the U.S. Merrill (DE392) as an Electrician Mate 1st Class, traveling between American and Mediterranean ports. After an honorable discharge he attended Boston University under the GI Bill. During his career he worked as a supervisor of the Debit/Credit Division at the Veteran's Administration. He entered a new career as a Claims and Fire Adjuster for Kemper Insurance for over 25 years. He later worked for the State Governor's Highway Safety Bureau as a principal planner before retiring in 1995.
Mr.
Hagan
was a life long communicant of St. Joseph's Church and a member of the Holy Name Society.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Colonel Mark J.
Hagan
, United States Army and his wife Dida of Boxford, his two cherished grandchildren, Emily Ann and Wesley Colin
Hagan
of Boxford, his sister Helen Crooks of Harwich Port and brother John of Revere. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Mr.
Hagan
was predeceased by his brother Owen and sister Frances
Hagan
.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday at 10:30 am followed by a funeral mass in St.
Joseph
Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 11:30 am. Relatives and friend may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm. Interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Stoneham.
