Joseph Cassidy, Jr.

Joseph F . Cassidy Jr ., 84 a lifelong resident of Wakefield died Saturday November 7, at Grosvenor Park in Salem. Born in Wakefield September 17, 1925 he was the son of the late Joseph F . and Mary E. (Regan) Cassidy .

Joseph was a graduate of Wakefield High School class of 1943. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked for the Wakefield Daily Item for 51 years before his retirement. Joseph was a member of St. Joseph Parish, and a past member of the West Side Social Club, and the Wakefield Council 104 Knights of Columbus.

Joseph was the husband of the late Isabel (McPhee) Cassidy . He is survived by his 2 daughters, Martha Smith and her husband Douglas of Salem, and Christine O'Brien and her husband Robert of College Park, MD, a brother John Cassidy of Jacksonville, FL, 2 sisters, Claire Stevens of Danville, NH, Eileen Neville of E. Andover, NH. He was preceded in death by his sister Ann P. Cassidy . He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Heather, Megan, Douglas Jr ., and Joseph Smith, and Katherine, William, and Margaret O'Brien.

The funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral Home on Wednesday 4-8pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wakefield Council on Aging, 30 Converse St., Wakefield, MA 01880
