Joseph Flynn

Joseph F. Flynn, 97, a longtime Wakefield resident, died Saturday, August 17 at the Wingate Nursing Home in Reading.

Born in Boston on April 2, 1916 he was the son of the late Joseph Patrick and Agnes (Lavin) Flynn.

Mr. Flynn was a graduate of Commerce High School in Boston and later went on to receive his Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree from Northeastern University. He was a World War II Army Veteran. Mr. Flynn had been a retired Auditor for the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) in Everett.

Mr. Flynn was the loving husband of Mary (McEleney) Flynn. He was the father of Mary Ellen Vezina and her husband Claude of NH, Joseph Flynn, Jr. of Wakefield, Neil Flynn and his wife Dianna of FL, Eileen Sarson and her husband Michael of NH, Frank Flynn and his wife Sing of Singapore, Kate Flynn and Susan Eaton and her husband William, all of Westford. Mr. Flynn was predeceased by his siblings Margaret, John, James, and George Flynn and Helen McCue. He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday at 9am followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. A visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 8pm. Internment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA, 02472.
