Professor, Joseph F. Krebs, long time Professor of Mathematics at Boston College died Tuesday June 24 at age 91. Born in Boston on November 1, 1922 he was the son of the late John F. and Victoria (Lovett) Krebs. Professor Krebs was raised in East Boston and was a graduate of Boston Latin High School and later from Boston College. He served in the United States Naval Reserve and served as a Lt. Commander aboard the Mine Sweeper, U.S.S. Phantom. He was a long time resident of Newtonville and had been a Peabody resident for the past four years. He was an avid Red Sox fan as well as a golf fan and horse racing fan at Suffolk Downs.
He was the brother of the late Rosalie T. Bateman and husband William and also the late Joan Campbell . He was the uncle of Karen M. DiBlasi, Denise Dill-Hurley, William C. Bateman, Jr., George Campbell, Jr., Joni Chandler, John Campbell and the late Janet Ring. He is also survived by many great and great - great nieces and nephews
His funeral service will be held in the Brooksby Village Chapel, Brooksby Village Dr. Peabody on Saturday June 28 at 10:00. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield on Friday from 4-7pm. Interment will be at Holy Hood Cemetery in Brookline.
