Joseph Carroll

Joseph M . Carroll , 87, of Stoneham died on Tuesday, April 2 at the EN Rogers VA Hospital in Bedford.

Born in Medford on March 10, 1926 he was the son of the late Richard and Patricia (Clifton) Carroll .

Joseph was a graduate of Commerce High School in Boston and Bentley College in Waltham. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army.
He had worked at the Charlestown Naval Shipyard, Avco in Wilmington and Hanscom Air Force Base. Joseph had been a resident of Stoneham since 1956 and was a member of St. Patrick Church in Stoneham.

He was the husband of Catherine (Blais) Carroll and the father of Maureen Brennan and her husband John of Andover, Stephen M . Carroll of Hampton, NH, and Kevin R. Carroll and his wife Cheryl of Bradford. He was the brother of Richard Carroll of Montana and the late Mary McInnis. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michelle, Jill, Greg, Amy, Dan and Julie and 3 great grandchildren.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Monday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 o'clock. A visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. Interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Stoneham.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the VA Alzheimer's Unit, Bldg. 62 CD Grecc, Bedford, MA 01730-1114.
