Joseph Walsh

Joseph A. "Skip" Walsh, 78, of Lynnfield, formerly of Wakefield died on Tuesday, April 24 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Born in Melrose on January 15, 1934 he was the son of the late Francis T. and Ruth A. (Riley) Walsh.

Joseph was a graduate of Malden High School, Class of 1951. During the Korean Conflict he served in the U.S. Army. He had worked as a Bank Examiner for the U.S. Treasury Department. After his retirement he worked as a Broker for Northrup Realtors in Lynnfield for 10 years.

Joseph was a former board member at the Lynnfield Senior Center. He enjoyed reading, movies and History. He also loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.

Joseph was the husband of Eileen (McCormack) Walsh. He was the father of Joseph A. Walsh Jr. and wife Tracy of Hanover, Kathleen M. Sweeney and fiancé Shep Becker of Litchfield, NH, and Kevin P. Walsh and wife Christine of Methuen and brother of Claire Doucette of Malden and the late Francis T. Walsh. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren; Patrick, Katie, Jack, Daniel, Erin, Meghan, Zachary, Timothy, and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 10 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Maria Goretti Church, 112 Chestnut St., Lynnfield at 11 o'clock. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Lynnfield. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home 19 Yale Ave Wakefield, Friday 4-8pm.
