Josephine DiTrapano, age 97, of Wakefield died Monday, February 20 at Oosterman's Rest Home in Wakefield.
Born in Cambridge on January 28, 1920 she was the daughter of the late Attilio and Mary (Guglietti) Donatio.
Mrs. DiTrapano was raised in East Cambridge and was a graduate of Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School, Class of 1937. She then went on to work at General Electric in Everett where she would meet her husband, Joseph J. DiTrapano, with whom she shared 72 years of marriage. They raised their family in E. Cambridge and Somerville before moving to Wakefield in 1954. Mrs. DiTrapano was an excellent Italian cook and her pies were famous amongst the family. She loved ceramics, crosswords and reading.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter Janet M. Macrina and her husband Richard of Wakefield; her son John J. DiTrapano and his wife Gail of Warrington, PA; her siblings: Albert Donatio, Carmella Errico and Barbara Witham; her grandchildren: Jennifer Boviard, Michael Macrina, Angela Capello, and Kevin, Laura and Alex DiTrapano; as well as her six great grandchildren: Sofia, Tyler, Nathan, Luca, Eliana, and Julianna. She was predeceased by her siblings: Angelina Parker, Americo Donatio, Joseph Donatio and her twin sister, Theresa Trigilio.
Her Funeral Service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 1pm. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday from 11am to 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St, Watertown, MA 02472.
