Josephine Doherty

Josephine C . Doherty , age 91 of Hampstead, NH formerly of Stoneham, MA passed away peacefully Monday August 31, 2020 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.
She was born on March 19, 1929 and was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Heath) Brown.

Josephine was a graduate of Everett High School, class of 1947, and attended Middlesex Community College in Bedford, MA. She was a longtime Stoneham resident, and had recently been living in Hampstead, NH. Josephine enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She also loved music, singing and dancing. She worked in the medical field for many years and was always helping others.

She was the beloved wife of the late Leo P. Doherty Sr. She was the loving mother of Leo P. Doherty Jr. and his wife Genelle of Atkinson, NH, Patricia Sparks and her husband Scott of Guilford, VT, and Charlene Frezza and her husband Dario of Atkinson, NH. She was the grandmother of Fiona Doherty , Jared Pierce, Devon and Dillon Sparks and Brendan and Brianna Frezza. She was the sister of Marion Mosher of North Reading, MA, Geneva Dodeman of Raymond, NH, the late John Brown, Mary Gilson and Theresa Fitzgerald.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Thursday September 10th 4-7 PM. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Parish, 71 Central St, Stoneham, on Friday September 11th at 10:00 AM. Because of Covid -19, interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Bladder Cancer Society.
