Josephine Longo, of Stoneham and Florida formerly Wakefield died at the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers on Saturday, March 31, after a courageous 15 year battle with cancer.
Born in Chelsea, MA on December 11, 1940, she was the daughter of the late John and Lucy (Laminoca) DiPerri.
Josephine was a graduate of St. Clements High School High School in Somerville. She was a Wakefield resident for 26 years. Josephine was a retired executive secretary in the Insurance industry. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, and playing golf.
Josephine was the wife of Anthony J. Longo. She was the mother of Anthony J. Longo, Jr. and his wife Linda of Wakefield, Patrice M. Melanson and her husband John of Stoneham, and Jon A. Longo and his wife Donna of Boca Raton, FL. Josephine was the sister of John DiPerri of Wakefield. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren; Audrey, Jack, Braden, Ty, Makena, and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave Wakefield on Wednesday at 9:00 A.M. followed by a funeral mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10 o'clock. A period of visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 – 8 P.M.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B102, Danvers, MA 01923, the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701, or Winchester Hospital, 41 Highland Ave., Winchester, MA 01890
Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.
