Joyce Adamson, age 80, of Brooksby Village in Peabody, formerly of Stoneham, passed away on Saturday March 8 at Salem Hospital. She was born in Brooklyn, NY and was the daughter of Robert and Muriel (Aust) Roberts.
Joyce grew up in Brooklyn and Valley Stream, NY, graduated from Brandeis University and Boston University Medical School. She was a loving and beloved doctor in Stoneham for more than 25 years, was Chair of the Department of Medicine at Winchester Hospital and served on the Stoneham Board of Health. Always active in the community, she was a longtime member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Reading and supported refugee resettlement and other charitable works. She was the proud mother of Glenn Adamson of Highland, NY and London, UK, and Peter Adamson of Munich, Germany.
In 2002 Joyce was disabled by illness and for more than twenty years lived with her husband David Adamson, under his care. She is also survived by her granddaughters Sophia and Johanna.
