Julia Symes

Julia M. Symes, 93, a long time resident of Stoneham died Wednesday, July 22 at her residence.

Born in Cascade, NH on February 22, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Rosalia (Matiscki) Skaradoski.

Mrs. Symes was a graduate of Gorham New Hampshire High School class of 1935. In 1985 she retired from her job as a lab technician for Polaroid in Waltham. She had lived in Stoneham for 71 years and was a member of St. Patrick Church and the Ladies Sodality.

Mrs. Symes was the wife of the late Arthur W. Symes. She is survived by her four sons, Dennis Symes and his wife Terry of Reading, Albert Symes and his wife Barbara of Rockport, Arthur "Butchie" Symes of Texas, and Daniel Symes of Stoneham. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren Jacqueline Sawyer, Michael Symes, Denise Symes, Shannon Symes, Landers Symes, Brandt Symes, Aricia Symes Elmer, Weylin Symes, Robert Symes, Cheri Sammataro, Eric Symes, Melissa Symes Patalano, Kyle Symes, and the late Gavin Symes. and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Mrs. Symes was predeceased her grandson Gavin Symes and her nine siblings.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Saturday at 9am followed by a funeral mass at St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10am. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 7pm. Interment will be at Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Julias name to the Stoneham Public Library, 431 Main Street, Stoneham MA 02180.
