June Patriquin

June W . Patriquin , 88, of Wakefield died on Thursday, March 17 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Born in Boston on June 30, 1922 she was the daughter of the late William H. and Vera (Whitton) Collins.

June attended Malden Public Schools and the Faelton Pianoforte School in Boston, studying with Edward Currie and Dr. Francis Snow.

June was a pianist, organist, choir director and composer. She has musical compositions copyrighted in the Library of Congress in Washington DC and was the organist/choir director at the First Baptist Church in Wakefield for 38 years. In addition to her accomplishments in music, she loved words and has published poetry. She also loved singing, camping, sewing, and swimming in the ocean.

June and her husband Bill made their home in Wakefield for many years. They had been active in the First Baptist Church and in the community, including being past presidents of the A.F.S. student exchange program and Corporators of the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. They enjoyed traveling and visiting relatives in Florida, Maine, England, Scotland and Canada.

June was the wife of 64 years to the late William H. Patriquin . She was the mother of Jean Friedman and her husband Joseph of King of Prussia, PA, Douglas Patriquin and his wife Anne of Lynnfield and Lauren Patriquin-Muise and her husband Gary of Wakefield. She was the sister of the late Maurice, Harold, John, and Myrtle Collins, and Martha Ferguson. She was the grandmother of Erik Hjorth and his wife Christine, Kira O'Brien and her husband Colin, Ryan Patriquin and his wife Katherine, Andrew Patriquin , John Muise and Daniel Muise. She is also survived by 4 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 8 Lafayette St., Wakefield on Tuesday at 11a.m. A period of visitation will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
