Karen M. Young, age 52 of Wakefield and formerly of Medford died June 18 in Boston after a battle with cancer. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.

Karen was born in Malden on January 27, 1972 and was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas W. and Dorothy (Foley) Young. She was a graduate of Medford High School, Class of 1990 and later from Suffolk University in 1994. She was a career Legal Secretary and was employed with the Finnegan Law Offices of Boston. She enjoyed travel, frequent trips to Disney World, travel to Europe and Broadway plays. 

She was the loving sister of Marie Macchione of Peabody, Tom Young and his wife Cindy of Lowell, Linda Taylor of Reading, Patti O’Brien and her husband Tim of Peabody and Michael Young of SC. She was also the aunt of Kevin, Michelle, Rob, Catie, Kerrianne and Matt and the great aunt of Shay, Agnes and Zeke.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint Joseph Church, 173 Albion Street Wakefield on Wednesday June 26 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Avenue Wakefield on Tuesday from 4-7pm.
