Katherine Bergonzi

Katherine Bergonzi,age 101 of Stoneham died on Friday January 13 at her home.

She was born in Boston on November 29, 1921 and was the daughter of the late Girolamo and Rosa (Palazzo) DiMercurio.

Katherine was a graduate of The High School of Practical Arts, where she was a member of the honor society. She was one of 10 children and raised in the North End. Katherine was a longtime faithful employee of Sears in Burlington where she made many friends over the years. She was a frequent visitor to the Burlington Senior Center where she had numerous friends. She was also a member of St. Patrick Church and the Italian Women’s Club.

She was the beloved wife of the late Albert A. Bergonzi. She was the loving mother of Marianne Bergonzi, and Linda Bergonzi, both of Stoneham, Janet Bates and husband Joe “Buddy” of Wakefield, and Albert J. Bergonzi and wife Kimberly of Cumming, GA. She was the cherished grandmother of Kate and Joe. She is also survived by her 3 great grandchildren Jackson, Shauna, Katerina, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham on Wednesday January 18 at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Tuesday, January 17 from 4-6 p.m.
