Katherine Long

Katherine M . Long , 88, a long time Stoneham resident, died Sunday, December 1, at the Ledgewood Nursing Home in Beverly.

Born in Melrose on November 17, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Carl F. and Julia M . (Nolan) Daly.

Katherine was raised in Stoneham and was a graduate of St. Patrick High School. She had worked at the Fields and Coles Bonding Company in Boston before becoming a devoted mother, after which she stayed home to raise her children. She later worked and retired from the Winchester Hospital in 1990. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading, music, photography, traveling, politics, movies and games.

Katherine was the loving mother of Russell T. Long Jr. of Rowley, Carl F. Long and his partner Cathy Locket of Amesbury, Katherine M . Johnson and her husband Jeffrey of Ipswich, David G. Long and his wife Robin of No. Reading, Thomas J. Long and his wife Marianne of Waltham, Peter M . Long and his wife Barbara of Lynnfield, Stephen R. Long and his partner, the late Laurie Langill of Reading. She was the loving grandmother of Joshua Johnson, and Noah, Christopher, Michael, Joey, Brian, Kaitlin, Ciara, Serena, and Rachael Long . She was the great grandmother of Isabella Rose Long-Burrdette. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Alice Dunn, LTJG James Edward Daly, USN, and Carline F. Volpe & husband Dante. She was the sister-in-law of Paul R. Dunn of Peabody.

She is also survived by her extended family, Noel and Brieanne Lacaillade, Mark, Richard, and Una Long , Bonnie Long and the Simeone family. She was the dear friend of Mary Amato, Barbara Duffy, Eileen DiGangi, Jody Herook, and the late Helen Rich.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Thursday at 9am followed by a funeral mass in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 o'clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 8pm. Interment will be at the St. Patrick Cemetery, Stoneham.
