Katherine Murphy

Katherine M. Murphy, 83, a life long resident of Wakefield, died on Monday, January 31 at the Winchester Hospital.

Born in Wakefield on July 27, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Grace (Bower) Talbot.

Mrs. Murphy was raised in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Call of 1945. She had worked for Transitron and New England Telephone. She later retired from M.I.T. Lincoln Laboratories.

Mrs. Murphy was the wife of the late Frank R. Murphy. She was the mother of Frank R. Murphy and his wife Carol of Melrose, Katherine G. Skelton and her husband Joe of Wakefield and Karen Leach of Hudson. She was the sister of Thomas Talbot of MO, George Talbot of Tewksbury, Edna Doherty of Stoneham, Eleanor Howland of Haverhill and the late Dorothy Hayes, Elizabeth Sousa and Grace Doucette. She was the grandmother of Stephanie Yasika, Tracy Skelton, Jennifer Manganello, Jeff and Joe Leach, Michelle and Ricky Murphy, Robert Ahearn and Colleen Ahern. She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren and was predeceased by her great grandson Dylan.

A funeral service will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 11 a.m. A period of visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
