Kathleen P. Aborn

Kathleen Aborn, age 75 of Ayer and formerly of Lynnfield, passed away peacefully on June 27 surrounded by her loved ones after a courageous 4-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Kathy was born on February 2, 1949 in Boston and was the cherished only daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Todisco. She graduated from Boston Latin High School and Tufts University before embarking on a 35-year career as a Boston public high school teacher. She touched many students lives over her long career while teaching at Dorchester High School, Boston English High School, Jamaica Plain High School and finishing her career at East Boston High School. She taught mathematics, technology, and advised the school paper, The Blue & Gold Chronicle, at East Boston High. After retiring from the Boston public school system, she worked as a real estate agent in Lynnfield and the North Shore area.

She was the beloved mother of James Aborn, Jennifer Russo, and Rick Aborn as well as a loving mother-in-law to Joseph Russo and Esther Aborn and the doting grandmother of Amelia Russo, Joey Russo, Wesley Aborn, and Wyatt Aborn. She loved being a mother and later a nana to her four grandchildren who she absolutely adored.

Kathy had a zest and a passion for life as she enjoyed traveling, cooking, and spending time with friends and family. She took many amazing trips and loved to travel to Hawaii, the Bahamas, and Europe. She always wanted to have fun and enjoy life to its fullest and her passion and love for life was contagious. Kathy could light up any room and she was fearless and energetic while pursuing her passions.

We are celebrating Kathy’s life and legacy at Saint Maria Goretti Church at 112 Chestnut St in Lynnfield, MA on Tuesday, July 2nd at 10:00 am. Visitation for friends and relatives will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home at 19 Yale Avenue in Wakefield on Monday, July 1st from 4-7pm.
