Kathleen K. Cranley, 71, of Strafford, New Hampshire formerly a longtime Wakefield resident died on Wednesday, September 2 at the Hyder Hospice House in Dover, New Hampshire.
Born in Boston on April 9, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Charles T. and Katherine F. (Mooney) Kean.
Mrs. Cranley was raised in Dorchester. She was a graduate of Fontbonne Academy in Milton, Boston City Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1965 and earned her Master's Degree from Boston College. Mrs. Cranley worked at Boston City Hospital and was a member of the Wakefield School and Finance Committees. She dedicated her life to her children and family.
She was the wife of the late Dr. William R. Cranley. Mrs. Cranley is survived by her three children; Timothy C. Cranley of Wakefield, Michael E. Cranley and his wife Karen Strangfeld of Dunstable, and Elizabeth Grasso and her husband David of Connecticut, as well as her grandson John Grasso. She was predeceased by her brother Charles T. Kean.
Her Funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday from 4-8pm. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kathleen's name may be made to Hyder Hospice House Dover, 285 County Farm Rd., Dover, NH 03825 or to Pulmonary Fibrosis Research to Boston University School of Medicine, Office of Development, 72 E. Concord St., Suite L-219, Boston, MA 02118. Boston University asks that checks are made payable to "Trustees of Boston University" and the memo includes "Pulmonary Center, R-3 Fibrosis Research".
