Kenneth E. Thompson of Lynnfield, died on Monday, April 2 at the Salem Hospital.
He was born on December 30th, 1945, and was the son of the late Thomas and Gladys (Taylor) Thompson.
Kenneth was a graduate of Arlington High School, class of 1964. After high school, Kenneth attended Wentworth Institute of Technology and Northeastern University. He was the Captain of both his High School and College basketball teams. He worked for Salem Hospital for 25 years as the Director of Facilities construction. For the past 13 years, Kenneth was the Building Commissioner for the town of Watertown and was the Vice President of Massachusetts Building Commission Inspectors Association (MBCIA.) He enjoyed spending time at the Camp at Newton NH. He served in the Navy with The Seabees during the Vietnam Era. Most of all, Kenneth enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was the beloved husband of Linda E. (Hansen) Thompson. He was the loving father of Joanne Nastri and her husband Drew of Reading and Matt Thompson and his wife Jean of Lynnfield. Kenneth is also survived by his 4 grandchildren; Andrea, Nick, Devin, and Emily.
His funeral service will be held at the Newton Junction Baptist Church, 18 West Main St., Newton, NH, on Saturday at 11 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday from 4-8 p.m. Interment, Willow Grove Cemetery.
