Laurence O'Neill

Laurence J . O'Neill Jr., 90, a 60 year resident of Stoneham died Saturday December 20, at the Kaplan House in Danvers. Born in Somerville July 17, 1918 he was the son of the late Laurence J . and Sarah C. (Moran) O'Neill .

Laurence was a graduate of Arlington High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II having served with the 313th Engineer Combat Battalion in North Africa and Italy. Laurence retired as a service specialist for Moran Fuel Co. of Lynn after 40 years. He was a member of St. Patrick Church and the Teamsters Union.

Laurence was the husband of the late Margaret D. (Kelly) O'Neill with whom he shared 61 years of marriage. He is survived by his 2 sons; Laurence J . III and his wife Maureen of Beverly, Robert and his partner Cathy Petersen of Haverhill, 2 sisters, Mary Conway of Lexington and Margaret Tympanick of Concord, 2 grandchildren; Kelly O'Neill-Uzgiris and her husband Paul of Melrose and Lauren Sherlock and her husband John of Salem and his great granddaughter Saorise Rose Uzgiris. He is also survived by 30 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother James P. O'Neill and sisters Angela C. Sullivan, Ann Logan and Bernadette M. Ritchie.

A Funeral service will be held in the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Tuesday at 11 AM. Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral Home on Tuesday prior to the service from 10 to 11 AM. Interment , Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Northshore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923.
