Lawrence "Joe" Johnson

Lawrence “Joe” Johnson, 93, a lifelong resident of Stoneham, died peacefully Thursday, February 13, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA.

He was born in Stoneham on November 19, 1931, the son of the late James F. and Veronica M. (Manley) Johnson.

Joe was a graduate of Stoneham High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Army during the Korean War. He proudly served his country and was awarded combat and campaign medals, including two Bronze Service Stars. Joe worked at John Hancock for forty-six years and retired as the Print Shop Manager.

Joe is survived by his sister Patricia McGah of Stoneham and his brother-in-law Kevin Wynne of Reading. He was predeceased by his brother James Johnson of Stoneham, his sister Mary Cook of Manchester, NH, and his sister Helen Wynne of Reading. 

Joe is also survived by nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central Street, Stoneham on Thursday, February 20, at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held before the mass from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the McDonald-Finnegan-Anderson Funeral Home, 322 Main Street, Stoneham.

Interment, St. Patrick Cemetery, Stoneham.
