Lawrence Mathewson

Lawrence J. Mathewson, 84, of Wakefield, died July 25 in Reading. He was born in Somerville on January 6, 1930 and was the son of the late Ralph and Dorothy (Duquette) Mathewson.

Larry was a long time Wakefield resident and was a graduate of Wakefield High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was retired from the Town of Wakefield. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Larry was the beloved husband of Joan M. (McWhinnie) Mathewson and the late Dorothy (Pacholski) Mathewson. He was the loving father of Jean King and husband Louis of Malden, Joseph Gaudreau and Lawrence R. Mathewson of Wakefield, Paul Gaudreau and wife Nancy of CA, Edward Gaudreau and wife Paula of No. Reading and Charles Mathewson of Reading. He was the brother of Robert Mathewson and his wife Barbara of Stoneham and is also survived by his 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A Graveside Service will be held at the Lakeside Cemetery, North Avenue Wakefield on Thursday, July 31 at 2pm. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday from 4-8pm.
