Leo Beane, Sr.

Leo F. Beane Sr., 103, of Peabody, formerly of Wakefield and No. Reading died Wednesday, August 15, at the Salem Hospital.

Born in Wakefield January 24, 1909 he was the son of the late Eli and Elizabeth (Fraughton) Beane.

Leo was a graduate of Wakefield High School Class of 1929. He was a Wakefield resident until 1968 when he moved to North Reading. He later relocated to Brooksby Village in Peabody. Leo was a longtime employee of the Watertown Arsenal. After his retirement he became the custodian of St. Joseph School in Wakefield. In his spare time he enjoyed oil painting.

Leo was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Walsh) Beane. He was the father of Leo F. Beane Jr. and his wife Connie of York Beach, ME, Bob Beane and his wife Diane of Reading, Ronald Beane and his wife Patricia of Woburn and the late Roy L. Beane. Leo is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
