Leon M. Curley, 63, of Stoneham died on Wednesday, February 17 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Born in Melrose on September 25, 1946 he was the son of the late James M. and Helen (Dineen) Curley.
Mr. Curley was raised in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School. He had retired from the Stoneham Fire Department after 30 years of service and had also worked for Federal Express and W.R. Grace in Woburn.
Mr. Curley was a member of the Marconi Club of Stoneham and the West Side Social Club in Wakefield. He was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed golf and playing cards.
Mr. Curley is survived by his wife, Patricia L. (Wieczorek) Curley, his two daughters, Julie A. Valentino and her husband David of Reading and Melissa A. Castle and her husband Adam of Concord, NH and his brother, Paul Curley of Woburn. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren, Amanda, Ashley, Krista, Maia and Michael.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald –Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Monday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 to 7 p.m. Interment will be at Lindenwood Cemetery in Stoneham.
