Leon Sleger

Leon F . Sleger , 78, of Wakefield died on Monday, December 3 at his home.

Born in Boston on October 8, 1934, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mildred A. (Woods) Sleger .

Leon was a graduate of Winthrop High School, Class of 1953. During the Korean Conflict he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired draftsman from General Electric in Lynn.

Leon had been a Wakefield resident since 1973. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Reading Rifle and Revolver Club and the Retired Navy Shooting Team. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Lynn.

Leon was the husband of the late June (Gillis) Sleger . He was the father of Bonnie Sleger Braese and her husband Stephen of Woburn and Mark Alan Sleger and his wife Nancy M. Given Sleger of Wakefield. He was the brother of Johanne Woods of Lyndeborough, NH, Toni Serena of Plymouth and the late Michael Sleger and the grandfather of Elisabeth, Jonathan, Shelby, Jeffrey and Andrew. He is also survived by several nieces and dear friend Cynthia Bennett of Wakefield.

A funeral service will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
