Linda Kane

Linda M. Kane, age 73, of Wakefield, died Thursday, April 7 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Born in Malden on April 29, 1948 she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Estelle (Dzoib) Kirby.

Mrs. Kane was raised in Malden before moving to Melrose where she graduated from Melrose High School. She had gone to work for New England Telephone for a number of years and most recently had retired as a bill processor from Mellon in Woburn. After meeting Francis Kane through friends, the two married in 1972, starting their family in Everett before settling into the family home on Cordis Street in Wakefield. Mrs. Kane was an animal lover, a wonderful cook, and an avid collector of thimbles, spoons, and elephants. She loved going to the casino and enjoyed time with family and friends at The Dockside in Wakefield playing Keno. She also had a love for the ocean and mountains.

She is survived by her beloved husband Francis Kane; her son, Michael Kane and his wife Dianna of Liverpool, NY; her daughter, Jennifer Morris and her husband Bill of Wakefield; her brother, Robert Kirby of Melrose; her grandchildren, Brenna Kane and Hannah and Colin Morris; as well as her dear friend, Maureen Roche of Medford.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Tuesday at 11am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield prior to the mass from 8:30-10:30am. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
