Linda E. Murphy, 68 a longtime resident of Wakefield died Monday, June 20, at the Bear Hill Nursing Center.
Born in Hartford, CT, May 11, 1943 she was the daughter of the late William D. and Elizabeth (Ericson) Whinnem.
Linda was a graduate of Maloney High School in Meriden, CT, and The Massachusetts College of Art in 1965. She also earned her Masters Degree there in 1976. She was an Art teacher in the Melrose Public School System for 35 years before her retirement. Linda was active in her professional organizations becoming president of the National Art Education Association in 1987. She was currently president of the Wakefield Art and Crafts Society. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish where she served as a Eucharistic Minister.
Linda was the beloved wife of 45 years to Kevin D. Murphy. She was the loving sister of Laurie Ettet of Niantic, CT, and Leslie Revenell and her husband Richard of Colonial Beach, VA. She is also survived by her nephews Andrew Ettet of Los Angeles, CA, and Christopher Ettet of Chester, CT.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Saturday at 10 a.m. There are no calling hours.
