Lorenzo Casamassima, age 69, a longtime Wakefield resident, died Monday, March 18 at his home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Cassano Delle Murge, Prov. Bari, Italy on January 27, 1950 he was the son of Maria (Pichichero) Casamassima of Medford and the late Domenico Casamassima.
Lorenzo was raised in Italy until the age of 16, at which time he immigrated to the United States. The epitome of the American Dream, embracing any education he could receive and eventually owning his own business. He loved working with his hands and had a true lust for life and a passion for cars, most especially his Ferrari. Lorenzo also enjoyed Italian soccer and was an avid Boston Bruins fan. He will be remembered as a modern Italian renaissance man, but most of all, he'll be remembered for his work ethic, and devotion to family.
