Louis J. Racca, 80, of Wakefield died Saturday, April 14 at the Meadowview Care & Rehabilitation Center in North Reading.
Born in Winthrop on November 5, 1931 he was the son of the late Louis R. and Gladys L. (King) Racca.
Mr. Racca was a graduate of Winthrop High School, Springfield College and had received his Masters Degree from Salem State College. Louis was a retired teacher and had taught in Wakefield and Malden Public Schools. He was a football coach in Wakefield, Malden and Lexington for 48 years. Mr. Racca had been a Wakefield resident since 1961. Louis was a life member of the Wakefield Elks, life member and past president of the Crystal Community Club in Wakefield and a member of the Sons of Italy of Wakefield. Mr. Racca had severed in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
Mr. Racca is survived by his wife Marilyn T. (Rouillard) Racca, his three children; James A. Racca and his wife Suzan of Franklin, Dennis R. Racca and his wife Kate of Merrimac, MA and Marylou Lemieux and her husband Kevin of North Reading. Louis is also survived by his 10 grandchildren.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Thursday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-8pm. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
