Mafalda V. Hurrell, age 93 of Wakefield died Saturday July 25 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. Born in Boston on March 30, 1916 she was the daughter of the late Guiseppe & Palmina (Bairdi) Zoffloli. Mrs. Hurrrell was raised in Boston and had been a Wakefield resident for many years. She was employed in the Food Service Department of the Melrose Wakefield Hospital and had also worked for the former Transitron Electronics Corporation of Wakefield. She was also a member of St. Joseph Church.
Mrs. Hurell is survived by her daughter Judith A. Covino and her husband Anthony of Reading and her son Philip R. Hurrell and his wife Jean of Wilmington. She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren, Elizabeth Kleinbauer and husband Corey of Canton, Barbara Cooper & husband William of Reading and Marie & Kara Hurrell and her great grandchildren Marissa, Kayla, Elise, Benjamin, Emily and Isabelle. She is pre-deceased by her brothers Natalino & Divo Zoffoli and her sister Marie Yaitanes.
Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home 19 Yale Ave Wakefield Wednesday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church 173 Albion St. Wakefield at 10:00. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday 4-8 PM. Interment will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
