Marcel I. Kien, 79, of Wakefield died on Saturday, February 16 at the Salem Hospital from complications of pneumonia.
Born in Munster, France on January 7, 1934 he was the son of the late Armand and Catherine (Schott) Kien.
Marcel was educated in Munster, France and completed Culinary School in Colmar, France. He has lived in the United States since 1962 and moved to Wakefield in 1971. Marcel was a retired Executive Chef at the Ritz-Carlton in Boston and American Airlines. He was a member of the culinary society known as Les Amis d"Escoffier of Boston. He was also a member of the Greenwood Union Church in Wakefield.
Marcel was the husband of Jeanne (Schubnel) Kien. He was the father of Jean-Marc Kien and his wife Denise of McClellanville, SC, and Patrick Kien and his wife Lori of Lawrenceville, GA. He was the brother of Yvonne Spenle of France. He was the grandfather of Nicholas, Holly, Michael, Jason and Jeremy and the great Grandfather of Lily.
A Funeral service will be held at the Greenwood Union Church, 4 Oak St., Wakefield, on Saturday at 1 p.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
