Margaret Leahy

Margaret E . (Molander) Leahy (Peg) of Stoneham passed away on August 1, at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading after a brief illness. She was 81 years of age.

Born in Boston in 1927, Peg was a resident of Stoneham for 58 years. With her husband Tom, they built their home in Stoneham and raised eight children. She operated a very successful tax preparation business. She was the office manager and paralegal for the law office of Thomas M. Leahy . She ran the office (including the 22 years Mr. Leahy served as Town Counsel for the Town of Stoneham), and simultaneously successfully raised seven sons and a daughter. In her spare time, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts and Management from Northeastern University in 1970, a Masters of Business Administration from Northeastern University in 1976 and a Masters of Science in Taxation from Bentley College in 1983.

She was the beloved wife of 47 years to the late Thomas M. Leahy . Devoted sister to Kay Crowe of Burlington, Massachusetts, Anna Krohn of Florida, Winnie Hanby of Florida, Peter Molander and his wife Mary of North Andover, Massachusetts and the late Dorothy Molander, Jerome Molander and William Molander. Loving mother of Michael Leahy and his wife, M.B. Maughn of Waquoit, Massachusetts, Kevin Leahy and his wife Beth of Cape Neddick, Maine, Stephen Leahy his wife Linda of Marshfield, Massachusetts, Barry Leahy and his wife Martha of West Byfield, Massachusetts, Brian Leahy and his wife Robin of Georgetown, Massachusetts, Mary Ward and her husband Bill of Springfield, Vermont, Darin Leahy and his wife Jackie of Stoneham, Massachusetts and Terrence Leahy and his companion, Robyn Credit of West Newbury, Massachusetts. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.


Through all, she always put her family first. She will be sorely missed.

A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham Monday at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There are no calling hours. Interment will Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sawtelle Family Hospice House, 321 Haverhill St., Reading MA 01867.
