Margaret Barnett Heglund

Longtime resident of Lynnfield, Massachusetts, Margaret Barnett Heglund died peacefully at the age of 104, on January 29, 2024.

Margaret was born in Whitehall, Montana on October 26, 1919. She grew up in Richland, Washington on her parent’s farm surrounded by orchards and chickens with her two sisters (Myrtle Grace and Mabel) and her two brothers (Dan and David).

She went to the University of Washington in Seattle, where she met Floyd Walter Heglund from Everett, Washington. They married in Lynn, Massachusetts in 1942 and promptly moved to the Mojave Desert where their daughters, Karen and Nancy were born. Their son Norman Charles was born following their return to Lynn.

The family moved to Lynnfield in 1955. After Karen, Nancy and Norman were raised, Margaret and Floyd spent many happy years travelling with family and friends across the US and Canada, and to Europe, Africa and Asia.

In 2003 they moved from their beloved but demanding farmhouse in Lynnfield to an apartment in Brooksby Village, Peabody, Massachusetts. Margaret’s husband Floyd, better known as Slim, died April 8, 2006. Margaret continued to travel with her family until she was 95.

She will be missed by her children Karen, Nancy and Norm, seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She will be interred 10:30 Thursday July 11 at the Forest Hill Cemetery on Forest Hill Avenue, Lynnfield.
