Margaret Reynolds

Margaret (Peggy) Reynolds lived a pious and respectful life. She grew up in Dorchester Massachusetts. She and her twin sister Marion were the fourth and fifth children of Delia (Brigit) and Thomas Reynolds; from Flaska County Galway and Drumshanbo Leitrim Ireland. (Siblings were Francis, Catherine, Dorothy, Marion & Thomas).

Peggy and her siblings were forged by tragedy in the 1930's and she emerged with perseverance and inner strength that stayed with her through life. Her sister Francis died in 1933 and her Dad passed away the following year when Workman's Compensation did not exist. The Reynolds family pulled through on their own. Peggy would talk about the bright side. The kids would go to bed with no decorations and wake on Christmas morning to a tree and a present (even in the 30's the trees were free late on Christmas Eve). In life, every morning was Christmas and Peg always saw the best in people.

Peggy was inseparable from her sisters, especially Marion. They went to the beaches in Dorchester, took part in the services at St Matthews in Dorchester, went to war time dances, and shopped together in Boston. Peggy and Marion shared a room throughout life and were constant companions. Both Peg and Marion were devoted to their Mother until she died at the age of 104. Peggy, Marion, Tommy and Nana moved to Fairmont St. in St Gregory's Parish in the 1950s and bought a cottage on Humarock Beach. Peggy loved to sit with her sisters on the beach, talk, and enjoy the family. Humarock was the place of happy memories for all of Peggy's nieces and nephews that she loved like her own children. All of 'the kids' had happy days - Susan, Mary Claire, David, Jackie, Tommie and Neil. Summers were a family time and the entire family were nearby in rented cottages. Days were filled with fun at the beach.

Peggy had a sharp mind. Peg graduated from Dorchester High School and worked for Boston Telephone (later AT&T) for 45 years. In the 1950s and 60s few women were managers in large companies. Peggy rose to leadership and was responsible for Medical and Benefits. People that worked with her described
Peg as 'smart as a whip.'

Peggy was a sharp dresser, always going to work in the latest fashions. She loved to shop for bargains at Filenes Basement in Boston and almost always had a couple of shopping bags on her lap riding home on the MBTA.

Peggy never asked for anything. She gave her time and her love and never looked for anything in return. She was infinitely proud of the kids in the family and would quietly give you a hug or encouragement when you most needed it.

If anyone is in heaven - it's Peggy Reynolds . When you'd walk in the house unexpectedly you'd find Peggy saying the rosary. The Catholic Church was her moral foundation and there was no 'grey' areas - she lived by letter of church doctrine. She was absolute in her belief in God and lived a pious and observant life. Peggy was honest and lived with absolute integrity. She never had a bad word for anyone in her life. She was kind and respectful.

In the past month Peggy, Catherine and Thomas went to God. I can see them with 'Della' and Thomas, Francis, Dorothy and especially Marion. It's a sunny day at the beach and they are together again.
