Marie Beyer

Marie E .(Reid) Beyer , formerly of Wakefield, died peacefully Wednesday September 10, 2008 at Brooksby Village in Peabody with her family present. Born in Boston on June 8, 1915, the daughter of John and Mary (Griffin)Reid, Marie was raised in Roslindale. She was a graduate of Girl's High School of Boston and Hickox Secretarial School. Marie and her husband, Fred, lived in Wakefield for more than 50 years. Active in town affairs, she gave her energies to the YMCA Women's Auxiliary, League of Women Voters, as a girl scout leader, and to Kosmos Club as a past president. She was a member of First Parish Congregational Church and served her church as a deaconess, and volunteering for Red Cross Blood drives and Rosie's, a Boston Women's shelter. She and Fred were honored as Outstanding Citizens of 1987 by the Wakefield Chamber of Commerce. She is survived by four children, Jane And Guy Moberg of Mequon, Wis, Leslie and Fred Beyer III of Cedarburg, Wis., Nancy and Eric Nelson of Topsfield, Mass., and Cathy and William Beyer of Burlington, Mass., Marie was a loving and caring grandmother of Kristian Moberg, Aron Moberg, Barbara Beyer and husband Steve Ciciotte, William Beyer , Caitlin and husband Joshua Merrill, Erica and husband Jason Mann and Kerianne Beyer . Her husband, Frederick A. Beyer , Jr. and a daughter Barbara Reid Beyer preceded her in death. Services will be held at First Parish Congregational Church, 1 Church Street, Wakefield, Massachusetts at 11:00 a.m Monday, September 15, 2008. Burial will be private. Contributions in her name may be sent to the Wakefield Citizen's Scholarship Foundation.
