Marilyn Ruth Morley, 78, of 8 Park St., Wakefield, Massachusetts passed peacefully away at her home on the evening of June 1, 2014 in the loving company of her husband, sons and daughters.
A wake will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 4 - 8 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home on Friday June 6, 2014 at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield.
Marilyn was born on May 26, 1936 in Chelsea, Massachusetts to Samuel Rossetti and Mary (Trickett) Rossetti. After graduation from Immaculate Conception High School in Revere, Marilyn matriculated from Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing and later, Salem State College. In the late 1950s, Marilyn worked for the Boston Visiting Nurse Association. And until her retirement in 2002, Marilyn worked as a Registered Nurse at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Marilyn was married to Robert A. Morley on May 23, 1959. A Wakefield resident since 1965, Marilyn was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. With her husband, Marilyn raised five children - including two sets of twins - in their Park Avenue house. In later years, Marilyn divided her time between residences in Wakefield, Naples, FL and Orleans, MA where she enjoyed tending her garden. Marilyn's world travels included Europe, the British Isles, Hawaii and a surprise 70th birthday cruise to Bermuda with her family. Frequent Manhattan trips to attend Broadway musicals were regular occurrences for Marilyn, as were outings to local musical theaters and jazz clubs. In winter 2009, Marilyn suffered a physically debilitating stroke in Naples, FL. With the help of her husband, health care aides and family, Marilyn strove to retain partial mobility and still delighted in live musical entertainment and dining out.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Robert A. Morley; her five children: R. Curtis Morley of Londonderry, NH; John Morley and his wife Jennifer of Tewksbury, MA; Marianna (Morley) Montague and her husband John of Apollo Beach, FL; Joseph S. Morley and Darlene Reynolds of Reading, MA; and Dorothy Beau Morley and her husband Jonathan Fountain of Wakefield, MA; her six grandchildren: Annemarie, Leanne, David, Olivia, Adam and Cassandra, and her great-grandson Jayden; her brother Joseph Rossetti and wife Barbara of Salem, NH and their children Catherine and Samuel.
