Mario S. Grasso, III. age 23, of Lynnfield passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
Born in Winchester on July 17, 2000 he was the beloved son of Mario S. Grasso, Jr. M.D. and Dina G. (Tuttle) Grasso. He was the cherished brother of Abigail Grasso and Harrison Grasso, both of Lynnfield. He was the adored grandson of Mario Grasso Sr. and Theresa Grasso of Swampscott, Grace Morse-Tuttle of FL, and the late Donna Tuttle and Earland W. (Bud) Tuttle, Jr. He was the nephew of Janine Fleming and her husband Kevin, Paul Grasso and his wife Jeannie Fitzgibbons, Laurie Hunt and her husband Dan, Amy Buck and her husband James, and Amy Gath and her husband Doug. He is also survived by many loving cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his cousin, Lindsay Cherubino.
Mario was raised in Lynnfield and was a graduate of St. John’s Preparatory School in Danvers, Class of 2018. He went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in deaf studies from College of the Holy Cross in 2022. He became proficient in America Sign Language and volunteered his time with members of the deaf community. Most recently he completed a year of research at the University of Rochester. He currently was a research assistant at Boston University, working toward his ultimate pursuit of a Ph.D and a career as a therapist.
Mario was wonderfully well rounded; humble, kind, genuinely caring, and friends and family alike enjoyed his dry sense of humor. He was quietly compassionate, offering his time in college to those in need by grocery shopping and making meals at a group home and assisting his professors with research. He loved his friends fiercely and spent hours playing Xbox and PlayStation with them; he was also an avid reader and had just started learning guitar. Most of all, Mario enjoyed being a big brother to his siblings. Together the family enjoyed many cruises and their annual trip to Disney World.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in The Chapel at St. John’s Preparatory School, Administrative Building, 72 Spring St., Danvers on Monday, January 15 at 11AM. Signs for parking will be displayed. Visitation for relatives and friends at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Sunday, January 14 from 1-4PM. In lieu of flowers please donate to American Society for Deaf Children in the honor of Mario Grasso III.
