Marion J.L. Hadley, 95 of Wakefield died Monday May 14 at her home and is now at peace with our Lord. Born in Victoria Newfoundland, Canada on January 29, 1917. Marion was a 65 year resident of Wakefield, always loving her view of Crystal Lake. Her life was simple and unassuming, yet she was completely devoted to her two sons, sacrificing anything she had for them. She never asked anything for herself and was most happy to give everything to the family instead. A more loving and concerned mother would be nearly impossible to match.
Marion graduated from Fisher Junior College in Boston. She proudly served in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II along with her brother Donald who was a decorated Marine pilot.
After the war she had a long career at Sylvania Electronics retiring from there in the 1960's. After her retirement she spent many years as an elder caregiver showing her deep compassion and care for others. Her son Bob took care of her for many, many years afterwards at her home on Main St. showing incredible amounts of love and dedication to our mother.
Mrs. Hadley is survived by two sons Robert G. Hadley of Wakefield and Ronald C. Hadley and his wife Jerie of Hudsonville, MI. She was the sister of the late Col. Donald Clarke, Alma Dayton and Lillian Murray. She was the loving grandmother of Laura Gecoya, Lea Hadley, Melissa Kloppe, Heather Davidson and Amanda Christenen. She is also survived by her 10 great grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held in the First Parish Congregational Church 1 Church St. Wakefield Thursday at 11:00. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield Wednesday 4-8 pm. Interment, Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
