Marion Messina

Marion "Connie" Messina , age 83, of Stoneham, formerly of Somerville died Thursday, February 21 at the Bear Hill Nursing Home.

Born in Boston on February 13, 1936 she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Della (Conway) McAfee.

Mrs. Messina was devoted to her family and cherished her grandchildren. She enjoyed caring for them, attending games and recitals, and overall time spent with family. She loved to cook, read and shop. She thoroughly enjoyed traveling, most especially a trip she took with her late husband to Europe in celebration of their 25th wedding anniversary. Their time spent in Ireland and Italy were most memorable.

Mrs. Messina was the wife of the late Charles R. "Speedy" Messina , Jr. She was the mother of John R. Messina and his wife Linda of Wakefield, Nancy Kotzuba and her husband James of Somerville, and Robin T. Foley and her husband John of Reading. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Matthew, Megan & fiancé James, Cameron, Taylor, Emily, Casey, Molly, Kaitlyn, Brandon, and Jill; as well as her great granddaughter, Gianna. She was the sister of Jean Williams of Pembroke and the best friend of Theresa Burns of Watertown.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday at 9am followed by a funeral mass in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 1 to 4PM. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Salvation Army Massachusetts Division, 25 Shawmut Road, Canton, MA 02021.
