"Chickie"
of Stoneham passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Hearthstone Alzheimer Care in Woburn due to COVID-19. She was 88 years old.
Mary
was born in Boston on December 11, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Richard and Anna (O'Brien) Glavin. She was raised in Charlestown and was a graduate of Charlestown High School class of 1949.
Mary
married the late John
Kelley
in May 1954. They began their life together living in Charlestown. Always a proud Townie, Chickie loved life, family, and friends. On summer days, she could be found at her favorite spot at Revere Beach in front of the Cyclone.
She had been a resident of Stoneham since 1975, spending many weekends enjoying the company of her new neighbors while still staying in contact with her Charlestown friends. She loved entertaining and was well known for her St. Patrick's Day dinners with over twenty guests sitting at the dining room table that swelled into the living room.
Chickie was known for her love of shopping! She began Christmas shopping on December 26th for the following year. She showered her children and grandchildren with a myriad of gifts that took hours for them to open. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, she loved attending their recitals, performances and sporting events. Sleepovers at Grammy's were always a special event.
Chickie looked forward to spending time in Falmouth every summer with her family for their Annual Bocce Tournament. She was lovingly referred to as the Platinum Sponsor as they celebrated together, laughing about the day's events, with a great dinner at a local restaurant.
In her later years, Chickie formed loving connections with the staff of Hearthstone. Her family is forever grateful to the staff for their devotion and care for

She was the beloved wife of the late John T.
Kelley
. She was the loving mother of Karen Adduci and her husband Vincent of Weymouth, Jack
Kelley
and his wife Pattie of Milford, and Diane Fitzpatrick and her husband Paul of Wilmington. She was the sister of the late Richard Glavin and Margaret Larabee.
Mary
is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Erin, Ryann, Michael, Christopher,
Kelley
, Colleen, Kate, and four great grandchildren, Kelsie, Keagan, Kinley, Olivia, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be private and are in the care of the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mary's favorite charities, St Jude's Hospital or The Shriners hospital for children.
