Mary Donahue

Mary Ellen Donahue, 92, of Reading and formerly Wakefield died at her home on Sunday, July 1.

Born in Stuart, IA on May 22, 1920 she was the daughter the late Charles and Alice (Courtney) Conway.

Mary Ellen was a graduate of St. Mary High School in Stuart, IA, and also a graduate of St. Elizabeth's Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, IL. Mary Ellen had worked at both the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital and the Malden Hospital as a Registered Nurse. She had also worked with the Visiting Nurses Association of Middlesex East. Mary Ellen retired as the Board of Health Nurse for the towns of Wakefield and North Reading. She was the president of Chapter 1124 of the AARP and was a member of the Tuesday Nighter's Club.

Mary Ellen was the wife of the late John F. Donahue. She was the mother of Daniel D. Donahue of Groveland, John C. Donahue of Plymouth, Kathleen E. Donahue of Somerville, Barbara A. Maffeo of Melrose, Deborah J. Donahue of Canton and the late Maureen P. Fallon. Mrs. Donahue is also survived by her 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield on Friday at 9:00 A.M. followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. A visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 – 8 P.M.

Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
