Mary Dulong

Mary A. Dulong, born June 11, 1913, in Lynn, Massachusetts, died on January 2, 2012, at the home of her daughter, Maryann Jones, in Reagan, TN, at the age of 98.

Mary was one of 13 children born to Michael J and Lucy B. (McCormack) Ahern. She was a graduate of St. Mary Catholic School, Lynn, Massachusetts. She was employed at General Electric, Lynn, Massachusetts. Mary married the late Leon (Sub) Dulong of Wakefield, Massachusetts, on October 21, 1939, attending the World's Fair in NYC on their honeymoon. The couple settled in Wakefield, where Sub was a respected firefighter and a member of the Wakefield High School Football Hall of Fame. Mary was a homemaker and later worked at Guillows, Inc. Among some of the activities Mary enjoyed was being an active member of St. Florence Parish; a Cub Scout den mother; a chaperone for high school activities and being a member of the Wakefield Bowling League.

Mary is survived by her son, David L. Dulong and wife Jeanne of Lyman, Maine, and her daughter, Maryann Jones and husband Harold of Reagan, Tennessee. Mary leaves three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mary is predeceased by one grandson and her brother, John D. Ahern, born January 16, 1919, of Biddeford Pool, Maine, who predeceased her by three hours at N.E. Sinai Hospital, Stoughton, Mass. Mary is at last "absent from the body" and "at home with the Lord."

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Florence Church, 47, Butler Ave., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of West Tennessee, 1804 Highway 45 Bypass, Suite 100, Jackson, Tennessee 38305.
