Mary Haladay

Mary E . (O'Neill) Haladay 88, a proud lifelong Wakefield resident died suddenly at home on Wednesday, August 26, 2009.

Born in Washington DC on June 17, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Henry J. and Julia (Hourihan) O'Neill.

Mary was a graduate of Wakefield High Class of 1939 and was very active in school activities and a member of the WHS cheerleading squad. She was a former employee of Wakefield School system.

She was a great homemaker whose greatest enjoyment in life was raising her family of 6 children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and also enjoyed getting together with her friends, including the "Club Ladies" (her life long friends). Mary's love of dancing led to her true love of her life Ed (Dukie).

Her priorities were family, God, friends, and the Red Sox.

Mary was predeceased by her husband of 64 years Edward J. Haladay and her son
Edward J. Jr. She is survived by Shelia Putnam and her husband Steve, John and his wife Suellen, Jean Marie Yentile and her husband James, Mary Ann Mueller and her husband Donald all of Wakefield; and Patricia Haladay of Wellesley. She was the sister of the late Henry J. (Bump) O'Neill and Dorothy F. (Dot) Little. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her
granddogs.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral House 19 Yale Avenue, Wakefield Monday, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Avenue, Wakefield at 10:00 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 3-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's, 501 St. Jude Pl. Memphis, TN. 38105.

Internment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
